The time has come to Catch Up With The Kids...
Once in a while, an opportunity for transforming lives and impacting the future comes along that makes a case that is not only clear and compelling, it is inspiring. A campaign called “Catch up with the Kids” will invest more than $300,000 in the latest technology in the classrooms. This campaign relies entirely on private contributions and will succeed only if we attract support from people like you. Washington students deserve our support, and Peoria deserves to have a leader in education.
Washington Gifted School is one of the greatest assets to the city of Peoria and is the crown jewel of Peoria Public Schools. Every year, the school is ranked among the state’s finest public or private middle schools and outpaces schools where per student spending is significantly greater. Washington students continue to set the bar with an attitude of excellence shared by the principal, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and community since the school began. The success of Washington students matters to all of us. In ways that make us all proud, Washington graduates go on to serve as leaders all over Central Illinois and throughout the nation.
Building on this track record, what is the immediate future of Washington? Technology is a key component to educational achievement. In today’s world, technology changes quickly. A gap has emerged between the energy of Washington students and the quality of technology they have at their disposal. Public budgets are tight, and private contributions are the only way to invest in the additional technology to meet the standards of excellence at the school.

The Campaign will kick off with an open house and presentation at the school on April 13. There will be open house with hors d'ouevres starting at 6:00 and a short presentation at 7:00. Parents, alumni and friends of Washington are invited to attend.
